Until the beginning of the 20th century there were so-called Deadhouses lined along the River Thames. They were build at strategic places where most of the bodies floating in the river were washed up. Once washed up, the bodies were registered and either buried, if identified, or released back into the river. This film took a very eerie and fairy tale approach to it.
Shot over a week mainly on a dressed location in East London and in a water tank, as one of the main sets was a flooding chamber that had to be build specifically for that purpose. |
